Information on Battery Disposal
In connection with the sale of batteries or the supply of devices containing batteries, we are obliged to inform you of the following:
Return of waste batteries
As an end user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries (German Battery Law Implementation Act – BattDG, and EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542). You can return waste batteries that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our range free of charge to our dispatch warehouse (sender address). Waste batteries are returned at your expense.
You can also hand in waste batteries at the public collection points in your municipality or wherever batteries of the type concerned are sold.
Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Where applicable, the chemical designation of the pollutant is shown below the wheeled bin symbol:
- Pb – battery contains lead
- Cd – battery contains cadmium
- Hg – battery contains mercury
Special information on lithium-ion rechargeable batteries
Some of our products contain lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. These batteries can cause fires if handled improperly, damaged or short-circuited. Please observe the following safety instructions:
- Do not throw lithium-ion batteries into fire, open them or damage them mechanically
- Protect rechargeable batteries from direct sunlight and moisture
- Do not continue to use damaged or swollen rechargeable batteries
- Return lithium-ion batteries only to approved collection points or specialist retailers – never dispose of them with household waste
Environmental and health information
Batteries contain pollutants that can harm the environment and health if not disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel and are therefore recycled. By collecting and recycling waste batteries separately, you make an important contribution to protecting the environment and health.
