Answers to the most important questions about dental materials, alloys and whitening

• What is a non-precious alloy in dental technology?

  Non-precious alloys are dental alloys without precious metals such as gold or platinum. They usually consist of cobalt-chromium (CoCr), less often of nickel-chromium, and are used for crowns, bridges, partial dentures and CAD/CAM milling. High-quality alloys are biocompatible, nickel- and beryllium-free and comply with EN ISO 22674.

• Are the dental materials CE-certified and biocompatible?

  Yes. All dental alloys, whitening gels and CAD/CAM blanks we offer are CE-certified medical devices and comply with the European standards (EN ISO 22674 for alloys, Regulation 2017/745 for medical devices). Our CoCr alloys are free from nickel, beryllium, cadmium and lead.

• How do I use Philips Zoom NiteWhite correctly?

  Place a small amount of the whitening gel into each chamber of your custom-made tray and wear it before going to sleep. NiteWhite 16% CP works gently over 6–8 hours. Recommended treatment: 1–2 weeks. Avoid staining food and drink such as coffee, red wine and tea during treatment. Details are in the instructions for use on the product page.

• What is the difference between bonding alloys, partial denture alloys and CAD/CAM blanks?

  Bonding alloys (e.g. Kera C, Keragen, Microlit ISI) are used for ceramic-veneered crowns and bridges — the ceramic is fired onto the metal framework. Partial denture alloys (e.g. DENTIUM) are optimised for removable dentures with clasps and bars. CAD/CAM blanks (e.g. Realloy CH) are discs for the digital production of crowns, bridges and implant-supported superstructures.

• Can private customers order as well?

  Tonidental is aimed primarily at professionals — dentists, dental technicians and dental laboratories. Certain products such as professional whitening gels may only be supplied to people with dental qualifications. Oral care products such as the Philips Sonicare toothbrush can also be ordered by private customers.

• How long does delivery take?

  Items in stock usually ship within a few working days. If an item is currently not in stock, it usually takes up to 7 working days. Special orders or new production (e.g. particular CAD/CAM blank heights) can take 1–12 weeks — the delivery time is stated on every product page.
