Description
Keragen CoCr Metal-Ceramic Alloy – Non-Precious Metal Alloy for Everyday Use
Keragen CoCr metal-ceramic alloy is a proven non-precious metal alloy developed specifically for everyday use in the dental laboratory. It combines reliable mechanical properties with excellent workability and is ideally suited to the routine fabrication of crowns, bridges and prosthetic work.
Composition of the Keragen non-precious metal alloy
Typical values according to the manufacturer's instructions for use:
| Cobalt (Co) | approx. 61.7 % – base element, provides stability |
|---|---|
| Chromium (Cr) | approx. 27.8 % – for corrosion protection and hardness |
| Tungsten (W) | approx. 8.5 % – increases strength |
| Silicon (Si) | approx. 1.6 % – optimises the casting process |
| Manganese and iron (Mn, Fe) | together max. 1 % |
Keragen is free from nickel, beryllium and cadmium and therefore particularly biocompatible.

Notes on use
For professional use in dental technology only. Processing is carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Use phosphate-bonded investment materials and vacuum pressure casting machines for CoCr alloys. The maximum casting temperature is 1,518 °C, the final preheating temperature of the investment ring approx. 850–900 °C. An oxide firing is not mandatory; optionally 5 minutes at 980 °C under vacuum (cleaning firing).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How does Keragen differ from Kera C?
Keragen is the economical everyday alloy with high elongation at fracture (14 %), which makes processing easier. Kera C offers higher strength values (700 MPa tensile strength, 350 HV hardness) and is better suited to highly stressed frameworks such as telescopic crowns.
Is Keragen also suitable for telescopic work?
Keragen is suitable for simple telescopic work. Where high demands are placed on hardness and wear resistance, we recommend the Kera C alloy.
Which ceramics are compatible?
Keragen is compatible with all common veneering ceramics for NPM alloys that require a CTE value of approx. 14.0–14.8 × 10⁻⁶ K⁻¹.

Safety information:
Metal dust is harmful to health. Use dust extraction and a respirator with FFP3 filter (DIN EN 149) when grinding and sandblasting. The dusts, fumes and smoke formed during processing: May cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled (H334). May cause an allergic skin reaction (H317). May cause long lasting harmful effects to aquatic life (H413). Avoid breathing dust and fumes, wear protective gloves, wear respiratory protection in case of inadequate ventilation. Do not use in case of known allergic reactions to any of the ingredients. For adult patients only; contraindicated for children, pregnant and breastfeeding women. In exceptional cases, electrochemically induced local irritations have been reported. Galvanic effects may occur when different alloy groups are used in the patient's mouth. Any serious incident must be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority. Observe the instructions for use and the safety data sheet (see downloads).
